Revised for the 20th gazillion time...
Once upon a time...
There was a woman
Who lived her life taking a stand
Went about her day being a princess bride
Saving knights and even damsels in distress by demand
Never asking for anything in return
Not even a thank you or an encouraging word
Always hearing about women and men, and their evil ways
Refused to be like them until her dying day
At the risk of sounding selfish, she began to wonder
Why do all the knights and damsels always run to another
Still she carried on her self-imposed duties
And continued to rescue knights and damsels
Always wondering at their beauty
But every now and then her mind would run astray
Often wondered if she had the strength to carry on this way
See this princess bride dreamt of being a Queen
The only piece that was missing was her King
And to this day she wonders if fate will be so kind
To give her the happy ending she believed in
...once upon a time
Our dear princess bride has spotted a knight
His smile has become a safe haven
Of his beauty he is unaware
The sparkle in his eye and short dark hair
It is hard for her to not notice
As she tries to maintain pure motives
It takes effort to not cross certain lines
As her heart begs for freedom to fly
But she knows he is worth the waiting
So for now she will suffer these cravings
All for this beautiful knight
The eyes of the heart may have opened at last
Could it be that the knight is just within her grasp?
The sound of her heart beating echoes in her ears
Could he be the king she has longed after for so many years?
The princess bride is still unsure of her next step
She doesn't want to make a move she will later regret
So for now she will proceed with a smile so fair
As to not chase away this knight with all her care
This gentle man is a true knight in distress
But in this princess bride he seems to have found rest
Somehow, she has gotten past his defences
She appears to be genuine without false pretenses
Still he has his reservations
He isn't sure they have the same destination
His head and heart are a jumbled mess
He truly is a knight in distress
What he doesn't know
Is that her heart breaks when he isn't near
What he doesn't know
Is she would give her last breathe to calm his fears
What he doesn't know
She is just happy to know him
What he doesn't know
Is she will remember him forever
What he doesn't know
Is all the things she can't seem to tell him this day or ever
She is from here, he is from there
But when they are together, they don't care
They share the same earth, they share the same sky
None of it seems to matter when they look into the others eyes
Even when it is from a portrait...
When she takes him to where he's going, will he go back to where he's been?
Will they have to go their seperate ways and just start all over again?
Do they live for the moment, and wait for the answers to come unfurled?
Or do they break it to their hearts that they come from different worlds?
The princess bride has done her duties, she has brought him safely home
She bids him farewell, and she turns to leave alone
Fighting back tears, as to not look like less than the fighter she is
But before she can take a step, he takes her by the hand in fear
"Please don't leave, my princess, stay if you would"
"But I don't know I can, or even if I should"
"But there is something you should know, my princess, something you should hear"
"In you I have found my strength to fight and chase away my fears"
"But, my knight, you had the strength all along"
"It's there every time you smile, or dance to one of my songs"
"Dear princess, just honor this one last request"
"Promise you will return for me, before your dying breathe"
She takes him in her arms, for an eternity it seems...
Even if it is from within a portrait
A weight has lifted from her soul, her heart is finally free
"I shall return for you, I just don't know when"
"There are many miles between us and they seem to never end"
"I must return home to tend to matters there"
The knight bemoans the fact, as he run his fingers through her hair
Even if it is from within a portrait
"Remember this poor princess bride as I head homeward bound"
"Every day I am not with you my heart shall break like a goblet upon the ground"
They bid farewell as she climbs atop her trusty steed
She rides off into the sunset, and one day shall return for her king
There is no other
She would cross the miles for
There is no other
Who makes her heart soar
There is no other
Who instills such passion
There is no other
Who brings this joy beyond comprehension
There is no other
For whom she would traverse time and dimensions
There is no other
Who is worth more to her than the Heavens
There is no other
And she will be with him even if it takes forever
For there is no other
What it's like without him
Like having legs and she can't walk
What it's like without him
Like having a mouth yet she can't talk
What it's like without him
Like having arms yet she has no one to hold
What it's like without him
Like having skin but she can't feel heat or cold
What it's like without him
Like having lungs and she can't breathe
What it's like without him
Like having eyes and she cannot see
Day and day again
This is what it's like without him
He has caught her eye
This devil in disguise
She will have her trophy
He is easy prey, since he is lonely
She will deceive with evil cunning
He won't even see it coming
She will bait him with gifts and sweet hollow words
Like culling the weak from the herd
Possessor of wealth and master of lies
He better beware this devil in disguise
As the princess bride stares up at the moonlit sky
And gazes upon the stars so bright
She points to one to let it serve as a reminder
Of all the things she loves about him
"This one is for his beautiful smile"
"And this one is for his endearing style"
"This one reminds me of his eyes"
"As round as the moon and as big as the sky"
"This star is for his amazing laugh"
" This one is for his peacefulness that calms my wrath"
"There are not enough stars in the heavens above"
"To count all the wonderous facets of this knight I love!"
It's all about perception
For The Queen of Deception
What he doesn't know won't hurt him
It won't hurt her either for that matter
He speaks so fondly of this "princess bride"
But this is my land and he won't dare put up a fight
Even if he does I will dispose of him in short order
And erase her from his world forever
And not a soul will be around to give a confession
Of how I proudly wear
...the crown of The Queen of Deception
...to be continued..
---written in a half-shredded journal circa...per the scribbled writing in the whole 20 pages or so...I was probably Popov'd out of my head...March 2007. I think. Maybe. Supposedly. Fuck off.
